Winery of the Month – NOV 2015
Tommasi Viticoltori

Tommasi Viticoltori is a family viticulture company founded with a small vineyard in 1902. Today the company has expanded to 334 acres in Verona and 222 acres in Maremma. It remains a family endeavor as 6 members of the fourth generation run the company.

SUN-SAT – 10:00am–9:00pm

In the 90’s the company started expanding and purchased vineyards throughout the Verona area as well as in Maremma just south of Tuscany. This has allowed them to make wines through a wide range of D.O.C.’s. The company uses only fruit that they grow themselves so that they can control the quality of the grapes all the way to the wine in the bottle.

Le Rosse Pinot Grigio

Le Rosse is a single vineyard from the Prunea Estate in the Sant’Ambrogio valley of Valpolicella. The wine sees no oak and as such is fresh and vibrant. This is a classic Valpolicella pinot grigio with great citrus and tropical fruit flavors over a light bodied wine with that vibrant pinot acidity. Try this with salads, apps or as a conversation starter. Reg $17.99 Sale $13.99

Arele Parziale Appassimento

Arele is the name of the racks on which the grapes are dried during the Appassimento process. This is the process that makes the famous Amarone wines. In this one only 35% of the grapes are dried and only for 25 days. Corvina is the dominant grape type with a small amount of Oselata, Rondinella, and Merlot. The wine contains copious dark fruits backed up by black pepper, leather, and some herbal notes. Reg $25.99 Sale $18.99

Rafael Valpolicella Classico Superiore

This wine comes from the historic Tommasi family vineyard. The wine is a blend of 60% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 15% Molinara. After fermentation the wine spends 15 months aging in Slavonian oak casks. This wine is a great example of Valpolicella reds. It contains a light spice to go along with the sweet cherry and dark berry fruit. Reg $18.99 Sale $14.99

Poggo al Tufo Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine comes from a single vineyard in the Maremma estate owned by Tommasi. Here we have a great example of what Cab can do in Italy.
