This Friday I wanted to do a tasting battle between France and Italy and in the process unpack Bordeaux wines, showing the complexity of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from both countries.
Why blend these two grapes? How does Italy’s terroir accent get expressed in these grapes as opposed to France? What is white Bordeaux?

The “Super Tuscan” category is comprised of high quality red wines that blend non-indigenous grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, or Syrah, into Sangiovese based wines.  But there are other blends that I wanted to share with folks today that I think are delicious and break from the mold.
