FREE Wine Tasting

The kids are going back to school and Summer is coming to an end. So for this Friday’s tasting I chose wines that are affordable and delicious, but also some slightly more expensive and very rich wines for the parents that want to treat themselves after a successful summer full of kids and camps.
We will be tasting:
1). Monte Antico Toscana Bianco: a bright and juicy blend of Malvasia, Vermentino, and Trebbiano. It is made by renowned winemaker Franco Bernabei for the Empson Family. This wine bursts with citrus, peach, tropical fruits, and a kiss of salinity.
2). Les Ligeriens Rose D’Anjou: an off dry rose from the Loire Valley, France. It is a playful blend of Gamay, Groulleau, and Cabernet Franc, with flavors of strawberry, candy apples, red currants, and juicy grapes.
3). Albino Rocca Langhe Nebbiolo: A Summer time Nebbiolo for all! It is lighter in body and tannin extraction due in part to its fermentation in steel tanks. Crunchy cherry, raspberry, and cranberries, with a twist if orange zest on the palate make this wine a perfect candidate for an antipasto plate and served chilled.
4). Ca’ del Laito “Bussolo” Valpolicella Ripasso: this wine is for those of us who want Amarone now but still accept that its August. This wine is rich, silky, and mouth coating, with flavors of dark cherries, plum, vanilla, black pepper, and perique tobacco.

I’m very lucky here at The Italian Market to get to meet people and taste wines from all over the world. I have a deep love for Italian wines, especially those made with Sangiovese. So it was wonderful to meet and taste with Alberto Passeri, agronomist and General Manager of the La Gerla wine estate in Tuscany.

These are wine businesses that are owned and operated by a collected group of grape growers, that produce and sell wines made from the grapes of their members. These business can range in size from a small facility servicing just one town, to massive enterprises that encompass an entire region!
