“North, South, East, and West”

This Friday at The Italian Market we will be tasting four unique Italian wines from the four corners of the country.

Antoniolo Vino Rosato:  A rare Nebbiolo rose from the Alta Piemonte region of Gattinara in Northern Italy.  This wine has flavors  of citrus, nectarine, tart cherry, and strawberry. 

Ayunta Rosso:  100% Nerello Mascalese from Sicily to the south.  These grapes are grown on Mt. Etna and made in a laid-back style using partial carbonic maceration, then aged in concrete. A very pure and fun expression. 

Le Calle “La Treggiata”:  Vermentino from Tuscany to the West. This wine sees partial skin contact which gives it a lovely tinted hue, and flavors of apricot, citrus, almonds, and honey. 

Bisci “Villa Castiglioni Rosso”:  100% Sangiovese from The Marche region of Eastern Italy.  This wine is firm and full-bodied.  Classic dry cherry runs through it, with other notes of blueberry, and wild strawberry, with firm tannins and pleasant acidity to balance its powerful fruit flavors.
